Getting Listed With the Search Engines:

What is a search engine?

Search engines are used by internet users to find all manner of items on the internet. Someone searching for red cowboy boots would access one of the search engines, type in "red cowboy boots" and be presented with a list of websites that have some reference to red cowboy boots.

To help internet users find your site, you will need to sumbit your site to the major search engines, such as Google, Lycos, Ask Jeeves, etc. These search engines are constantly "crawling" the internet and adding new sites, but that can take a while. So to get your site listed more quickly, submission is the way to go.

Submitting your site doesn't mean you will automatically be listed in the first ten listings, however. Some people pay a "sponsor fee" to make sure their site comes up at or near the top of the list. There are other ways to help your site get listed at the top, some of which I will incorporate into your website when I create it. I recommend that you visit www.searchenginewatch.com to learn more about search engines and how to get your site publicized on the internet.
