Your first steps to getting a website:

1. Email me to discuss your what you want in a website.

2. Sign up with an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Your local yellow pages will have a listing under "Internet Access Providers" or "Internet Service Providers". I personally use Earthlink because their servers are always up (so your website is never down) and their customer service is excellent. If you already have an email address, check with your provider about adding a website. You can expect to pay around $20/mo. for webspace, but check around for competitive rates.

3. Decide on a domain name (www.yourbusiness.com) and register it. There are many ways to register, including through your ISP. I use Network Solutions.

4. Decide if you need to have e-commerce on your site. If you do, check out PayPal. You can begin accepting credit cards and electronic checks almost immediately after signing up for a business PayPal account. Your customers do not have to have a PayPal account to pay you.

5. Assemble the graphics and text you want to include on the site.
